Decently embraces the best of the NW health tech sector as it enters a new exciting chapter

As autumn begins to roll in, it often brings with it a sense of new beginnings - the close of summer, but also the start of a new academic year, industry conference season and a fresh perspective on what's to come.

For Decently, September 2023 marks a significant milestone as we celebrate our second anniversary (definitely worth celebrating…not every start-up gets this far!) and also embark on an exciting new chapter following the close of a successful investment round and funding applications in support of Melo.

Decently Co-founders & GM Life Sciences team from Praetura Ventures

As announced today, we recently closed our pre-seed investment round, made possible through the invaluable partnership and support of Praetura Ventures (in collaboration with the GMC Life Sciences Fund) and SFC Capital. All the effort of pitching, building connections, and undergoing rigorous due diligence in the first half of this year certainly put us through our paces, but it has also forged strong bonds with these two firms, both of which boast a commendable track record of supporting Digital Health Innovation. These new alliances will be instrumental as we now gear up to expand Melo to more pilot sites and the momentum of our work in the Greater Manchester area, particularly at our flagship pilot site, Salford Royal Hospital (part of Northern Care Alliance), has been further catalysed by our growing collaboration and support with other GM partners such as Health Innovation Manchester.

The investment has already enabled us to start to grow the team by bringing onboard a new developer and establish another base within the Manchester Technology Centre. Needless to say, we are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead!

Decently team with data scientists from the Hartree Centre & VEC

In parallel we are also proud to announce a new nine-month project, backed by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and in partnership with esteemed organisations such as the Hartree Centre and the Liverpool Virtual Engineering Centre (VEC). This project, based at the Daresbury Campus, is dedicated to exploring potential AI-driven approaches for Melo's roadmap.

The collaborative atmosphere across the campus, fostering connections with a diverse array of companies and individuals, is really inspiring and we look forward to seeing how this can rapidly accelerate our product plans in this important space.

This all underlines once again to us the tremendous support network available here in the North West and we consider ourselves privileged to be an integral part of this vibrant health tech ecosystem.

So please stay tuned as we continue to push boundaries, innovate, and strive to make a meaningful impact in many people’s lives across the UK!
